Malini has worked on environmental diplomacy and peacebuilding in government and through civil society initiatives such as the Indo-Pak Climate Change & Disaster Risk Reduction Initiative that she co-founded in 2010 as a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.

Since the mid-1990s, she has been associated with the award-winning Middle Eastern environmental NGO, Ecopeace Middle East. Based in Jordan, Palestine and Israel, EcoPeace has successfully promoted transboundary water resource management and environmental cooperation  in a highly volatile region for over two decades. Malini serves on the International Advisory Board of EcoPeace and has organised visits and events, and actively supported the organization’s Green Blue Deal for the region, focussing on regional cooperation on water, energy and ecosystem rehabilitation.
